Hartlepool Reports – Social Media Training Event

People’s Voice Media sent me to Hartlepool to deliver training to community groups in regard to how they could make use of social media. I ran a workshop with them in the use of Flip cameras and set them in 3 groups the challenge to plan, film and edit a short film in just over an hour. The results were 3 films totally in the spirit of Community Reporting. Hartgables, a centre for LGBT groups, created a film about their centre, Dave from Manor West shared his views on The Big Society and students from HCFE shared their learning experiences and plans for the future. The second part of the day focussed on Blogs and how community groups can use them as part of their online presence plus how to make best use of linking with social networking sites and media hosting sites in order to reach the audience they want.

I took a little time to interview some of the participants on the day. This is what they had to say.

A Stroll Around Hartlepool Marina

I was sent to Hartlepool by People’s Voice Media on a mission to teach community groups how to make the most of social media. I ran a day workshop with them demonstrating how they could make use of blogs and how they could very simply make, edit and share short videos by using Flip Video cameras. I was very kindly put up at the Premier Inn in Hartlepool Marina so to took advantage of this opportunity to get some photos. This is what I found.
