Not strictly a film work this but a marketing video I was asked to review and update, by Paul Coulthard (Head of School) whilst working at The School of Dentistry at Manchester University. This was a side project during office temp work that I’m doing which came my way because they found out I did a spot of film making in my spare time and was interested in media production. It was pretty much like putting a jigsaw puzzle together. I was reworking a piece put together on aftereffects 3 years ago with a whole batch of new photographs taken by a freelance photographer the school had hired. My task was to develop the wording to give the film more impact and select appropriate imagery to bring it all to life. It was a piece of work I wrote and directed and was put together by Mandy Tootill in their Graphics Support Unit. This video is now being used at conferences to market the School of Dentistry. Hoping this is the start of more media/communications projects there.
Here’s my latest piece of freelance work for People’s Voice Media : In October The Open For All? Voluntary Sector North West conference brought together delegates from third sector and voluntary organisations to discuss contemporary issues and challenges in the age of The Big Society and the Localism Bill, and shared knowledge and strategies for sustainability in the current financial climate. This video is now featured on the VSNW website as a news item. http://www.vsnw.org.uk/news/view/2011-12-01-video-highlights-from-vsnw-conference-2011

ISABEL made the TV news in Spain! This report on RTVCYL was filmed during our training days in Salamanca and features many of the participants who took part. See link RTVCYL News Report on USAL Participation in ISABEL Project
Earlier this week I went along to Salamanca in Spain with Teresa Wilson to train trainers for the ISABEL project, a very exciting European project which People’s Voice Media are involved in. Training ran from 16th-18th May. Teresa was leading the training and I was there to provide some technical support and help people out when they got a bit stuck. One of the aims of the ISABEL project is to train Community Reporters in Europe. We had a group of around 25 including trainers from Spain, Italy, Germany, Hungary and Turkey who will deliver this kind of training to groups they are working with in Europe. The link below takes you to the slideshow on communityreporter.co.uk Keep your eyes peeled for more stories about ISABEL . . .
Here are some videos that were made on the training days:
Here’s the promo video I made for Laughing Cows Comedy Night which runs regularly at The Frog & Bucket in Manchester. This showcases some of the best female comedy talent out there such as Barbara Nice, Isy Suttie (of Peep Show fame), Jo Enright, Ava Vidal, Shazia Mirza, Janey Godley and Mandy Muden. It’s well worth a visit. For more info on Laughing Cows follow the link on my blogroll. Enjoy!
