Formby Red Squirrel Pilgrimage
On a bright sunny day in March, March 25th to be exact, I chose to take a trip down to Formby on the search of the Red Squirrel. Formby has a beautiful natural beach and a Red Squirrel sanctuary. I must have walked for miles on the beach and my legs certainly paid for it the next day, but it was a pleasure to be by the sea on such a nice day. After the beach I took a stroll in the pine woods looking for squirrels but none were to be found. Just as I was getting in the car to leave we spotted three of the critters chasing each other around the trees. The camera I took with me was not powerful enough to zoom in close enough to get a decent picture of them but I was reassured they were actually there. It took just over an hour to get there by car from Manchester and I definitely intend to go back there with a better camera so I can do the red squirrels justice.
